ONE Mary Ann's number one platform item is to propose a reform of Portland city government based on the League of Women Voters 2-year study, Preparing Portland for the Future. The major change would be to move the City Council to representation by geographical district.
TWO Mary Ann is committed to the protection of the public commons for the common good. She will cast a critical eye on all proposals to sell city, county and other public properties to private developers. She will also champion the development of more public facilities to benefit Portland residents.
THREE Mary Ann will re-establish and reform the role of neighborhoods in city government by reviewing and revising Portland City Code Title 3.96. She strongly believes that Neighborhood Associations are still the best form of representation for city residents and would work to empower those NA's in areas of past underrepresentation.
